Hypomenorrhea
Menstrual periods that are lighter and shorter than usual are referred to as hypomenorrhea. A woman who has hypomenorrhea may only have a few days of menstruation and lose a very small amount of blood compared to normal.
Description:
It has been reported that underweight girls or teenagers with regular menstrual cycles are more likely to experience hypomenorrhea. We've all heard about "scanty menstruation" at some point and some of us may have even worried about getting it. This type of light flow only allows you to bleed less than 30ml of blood throughout one cycle although 40-60ml is regarded the global standard resulting in a menstrual irregularity known as hypomenorrhea.
Cause:
• Issues relating to the hypothalamic-pituitary axis; • Inadequate ovary • Psychogenic factors such as test stress or extreme excitement about future events may result in shorter and/or lighter bleeding. • Chronic illnesses such as ulcerative colitis Crohn's disease or celiac disease or eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia; • Overtraining and abrupt diet changes; • Endometrial tuberculosis (mostly in adults) and intrauterine adhesions (Asherman's syndrome); • Menstrual flow may decrease as a result of using oral contraceptives; • Light flow could be the result of hyperthyroidism; • Overproduction of prolactin • Hyperandrogenism (PCOs) • Hormonal imbalances inside the body might result in hypomenorrhea. The menstrual cycle is mostly controlled by hormones like progesterone and estrogen. Hypomenorrhea may arise from any imbalance in these hormones.
Symptom:
If you bleed less than what is considered normal for successive menstrual cycles or if your period lasts less than two days you should consider hypomenorrhea. stomach aches or cramps Spots instead of continuous bleeding irregular cycle of menstruation later onset of the menstrual cycle
