NAFLD (NA Fatty Liver)

NAFLD, or non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, is a term used to describe a group of illnesses that occur in people who drink little or no alcohol yet have an excess of fat accumulated in their livers. There should be little to no fat in healthy liver cells. It is deemed excessive when liver cells retain more than 5% of their total weight in fat, which can lead to a fatty liver.

Description:

The liver, which weighs roughly three pounds, is one of the most vital organs in the body. It is located beneath the ribs on the upper-right side of the abdomen, or belly. The liver performs the following functions: eating and metabolising to produce energy. facilitating the body's utilisation of drugs. eliminating toxins and alcohol from your body. producing bile, which facilitates digestion. A disorder known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is characterised by a buildup of fat in the hepatocytes, the cells that make up the liver. Over time, a liver with too much fat might cause serious harm. Two varieties of NAFLD exist: Non-alcoholic fatty liver ( NAFL) - is a benign disorder where fat builds up in the liver and can cause inflammation, but not progressive liver damage or problems. Hepatomegaly, or an enlarged liver, may cause discomfort or pain in the abdomen as a result. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis ( NASH ) - This is a malignant disorder in which the accumulation of fat in the liver can lead to liver damage, fibrosis, and scarring. It can also produce cirrhosis, or end-stage liver disease, and liver cancer can result from further liver cirrhosis.

Cause:

It is not possible for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) to be transmitted from one individual to another. In actuality, those with one or more of the following risk factors are more likely to experience it: Being overweight either prediabetes or diabetes elevated cholesterol High blood pressure in the arteries inactive lifestyle usage of specific medications

Symptoms:

Depending on the stage of the illness, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) can have a wide range of signs and symptoms. Patients usually don't have any symptoms that are directly associated with liver disease in the early or middle stages of the illness. However, when the illness worsens, people may develop cirrhosis symptoms, such as: Exhaustion. confusion or memory loss Retention of fluid in the legs or abdomen tarry black stools passing through, indicating possible internal haemorrhage
