Leucorrhoea
Leucorrhea is the term for a white yellow or greenish discharge that may or may not be symptomatic of an infection coming from a woman's vagina. These discharges can come from the fallopian tubes' ovaries vagina or, most frequently, the cervix.
Overview
Leucorrhoea is common during pregnancy and is considered typical when the discharge is thin, white, and odorless. Physiologic leucorrhoea is a normal condition that occurs in adolescent girls within several months to a year of the beginning of menstruation and is occasionally present in newborn girls lasting one to two months. leucorrhoea, however, is frequently an indication of an infection, particularly if the discharge is green or yellow smells strongly, and is accompanied by discomfort, itching irritation, or inflammation of the tissue.
Types: The following is a list of the several forms of this condition according to its cause:
Physiological: The vagina secretes this naturally. The primary cause of this is a shift in hormone levels. Typical situations include the early stages of pregnancy during the sexual excitation period, which is one of the early indicators of puberty in young girls. Additionally, because of mother estrogen, it is seen in babies for a week after delivery.
Pathological: It results from illnesses. The discharge smells and looks different. It smells bad and turns yellow. It can be the result of an underlying infection and requires medical care. The following are a few of the pathological conditions,
i. Cervicitis - Lower back pain is a common symptom of this illness. The condition will be accompanied by cervical irritation brought on by STDs or allergy to intrauterine devices or any other form of contraception.
ii. Vaginal yeast infection: also known as candidiasis, is a common condition among women with diabetes or those taking antibiotics or birth control pills. Changes in the vaginal pH (potential of hydrogen) are the linked factor. Additionally, vaginal yeast infections can be caused by improper hygiene.
iii. Trichomonas vaginitis: is commonly referred to as trichomoniasis. Itching is also experienced coupled with a yellow foamy discharge. HIV/AIDS and inadequate personal hygiene are the likely causes. The symptoms appear three to 28 days after the infection.
