Arteriosclerosis
Arteriosclerosis is a vascular disease characterised by the hardening of arteries.
Overview
Cardiovascular arteriosclerosis, another name for arteriosclerosis, is a heart disease that develops when arteries become stiff and thick, limiting blood flow to the body's tissues and organs. This slow process, generally referred to as artery hardening, weakens arteries in several organs, most frequently the heart.
The body's arteries carry blood throughout, but arteriosclerosis can occur when plaque—a buildup of fat, cholesterol, and other cellular waste—develops on the walls of the arteries. Arteriosclerosis can progress to atherosclerosis, which can result in chronic kidney disease and aneurysms that can cause life-threatening internal bleeding, heart disease, strokes, and circulation issues in the arms and legs.
Causes
Numerous risk factors are shared by all forms of arteriosclerosis, even though their etiology may differ. Among these risk factors are,
Growing older
Family background
Poor Diet
Absence of Exercise
Being overweight
Drinking and smoking patterns
Elevated blood pressure
Diabetes
Renal illness that is persistent.
Elevated cholesterol.
However, arteriosclerosis can be prevented or its effects can be slowed down by reducing the risk through dietary adjustments, early detection, and medical interventions.
Symptoms
You may not notice any signs until it becomes serious. This disease prevents the artery from supplying blood to tissues and organs because it narrows or clogs. The following are some typical signs of various forms of arteriosclerosis:
Perplexity or trouble comprehending or conversing with people.
Intense headache
Weary issues with vision
Numbness or weakness
Lightheadedness
Loss of weight
Insufficient synchronisation
Dizziness
Breathlessness
Vomiting or feeling queasy
Sweat with coldness
Discomfort in the chest

Sira gata vata - Aggravated vitiated vata dosha, takes sthana samshraya (settles) in sira (blood vessels), causing kharatva ( thickness and hardening) of arteries, which is called arteriosclerosis. The Ayurveda way of approach is to correct the samprapthi (pathogenesis), the root cause of this condition, by bringing dosha back to balance, improving circulation and preventing the complication by Ayurvedic panchakarma treatment.
