Takradhara
'Dhara' means to pour, while 'Takra' implies buttermilk. Takra dhara is dhara made with medicated buttermilk. Although buttermilk is applied to the forehead in place of herbal oil, this procedure is comparable to Shiro Dhara. In take dhara, medicinal buttermilk is continuously poured into the middle of the forehead.
How it is performed?
Takra dhara should be performed within the allotted time frame.
A head massage is done using a herbal oil suitable for the person.
The person is then made to lie down in the wooden table specifically constructed for the procedure.
Takra is typically made with ingredients like milk, amalaki choornam, and mustha .
The medicinal buttermilk prepared after thoroughly skimming the milk of its fat , is continuously poured into the scalp and forehead from a hanging pot.
Depending on the patient's clinical state, the treatment typically lasts 7–14 days with 45–90 minutes allocated each day.
How it works?
It is thought that Takra dhara has a balancing impact on the innermost parts of our brains, stimulating the pituitary and pineal glands (for hormonal imbalances), the endocrine system, and pleasure neurotransmitters (for sadness or emotional insecurity). Additionally, it is believed to improve blood flow to the brain, which releases deeply ingrained poisons called Aama and improves clarity.
