When herbal mixture or natural ingredients are applied on the face, it's called Mukha Lepa in Ayurveda. Mukha Lepa is not a simple cosmetic treatment, it is essentially an Ayurvedic treatement to addres certain underlying conditions. 


The specific ingredients used in Mukha Lepanam can vary depending on regional preferences and the desired benefits. Some common ingredients include:

  • Gram flour (besan): A natural exfoliant that helps remove dead skin cells.

  • Turmeric: A natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agent that can help brighten the skin and reduce blemishes.

  • Milk or yogurt: A hydrating and soothing ingredient that can help soften the skin.

  • Honey: A natural humectant that can help moisturize the skin and prevent dryness.

  • Neem: A natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory herb that can help treat acne and skin infections.

  • Sandalwood powder: A cooling and soothing ingredient that can help reduce redness and inflammation.


How to Perform Mukha Lepanam?


Prepare the paste: The person  is asked to lie in the supine position or sit comfortably. Mix in the desired ingredients together to form a smooth paste.


Apply to the face: A light massage on the face with medicated oil is followed by the application of paste on the face avoiding the eye area.Keep checking for any kind of complications.


Leave on:  Rest and abstain from talking, singing,Leave the paste on for 15-20 minutes, or until it dries completely.


Rinse off: Rinse the paste off with lukewarm water and gently pat your face dry.
