Ksheera Dhara

Ksheera Dhara is the procedure in which milk boiled along with medicinal herbs is poured continuously over the forehead and body. The medicinal milk when poured over the forehead has a resultant cooling effect and invigorates the hypothalamus and manages the function of the pituitary gland. As we know, the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland are pivotal centers in our body. Therefore, a therapy that can produce a conducive effect on these vital centers is worth practicing on patients. t's particularly beneficial for conditions  such as:

How is Ksheera Dhara performed?


Preparation: Cow’s milk, is heated along with medicinal herbs till it simmers. Before pouring the medicated milk, we administer the patient a massage on the head with medicated oil 


Positioning: The patient lies on their back with their head slightly elevated, the ears plugged and both eyes covered. 


Milk application: Warm, medicated milk is slowly poured over the forehead in a continuous stream, with a slight pendular motion for some time. 


Duration: The treatment typically lasts for a specific duration, depending on the individual's condition and the therapist's recommendation.After the procedure, the area is wiped  with extreme precision, and  the patient is asked to remain indoors. 


Hot Bath: A hot water bath is recommended post treatment.
