Poultices and compresses, also referred to as herbal packs, are age-old treatments, that have been used for generations to cure several illnesses. Herbs are combined with a moist base, like clay, milk, or water, to make the packs. They are then applied to the affected area to provide relief.


Advantages of Herbal Packs


Pain relief: The anti-inflammatory qualities of several herbs can aid in the reduction of pain and swelling.

Common Herbs Used in Herbal Packs:

  • Nirgundi: Known for its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, Nirgundi is often used to treat Pain and Swelling.

  • Kumari:  Aloe vera as it is called commonly, has cooling and soothing effects, making it ideal for reducing the burning sensation and itching

  • Nimba: Neem or Nimba is often used to treat skin irritations and fungal and bacterial infections.

  • Chandana: Chandana or pure sandalwood paste is a popular herb for healing wounds and promoting tissue regeneration.

  • Vacha: Sweet flag or vacha has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, making it a good choice for skin conditions.

How to Make a Herbal Pack

  1. Choose your herbs: Select herbs based on your specific needs.

  2. Prepare the base: Use a moist base like water, milk, or clay.

  3. Combine: Mix the herbs with the base to form a paste.

  4. Apply: Apply the paste to the affected area, covering it with a cloth.

  5. Leave on: Leave the pack on for the recommended time, which varies depending on the herbs and condition.
