Aschotanam
Ayurveda
Aschotanam is a unique Ayurvedic procedure using medicated eye drops to nourish and rejuvenate the eyes. It is the first line of treatment for various eye diseases. It helps strengthen the nerves and muscles and freshening the eyes. The therapy relieves issues like refractive errors, dry eyes, conjunctivitis, watery eyes, computer vision syndrome, cataracts, and glaucoma.
Procedure
Aschyotan administers the medicine, in the form of an aqueous solution to the cornea and conjunctiva from a safe height of 2" to 3" for approximately 10 minutes. This is where the medication can enter the blood vessels in the conjunctiva. While it's true that several drops won't stay on the conjunctiva, they will be absorbed more successfully if they are administered continually, at a slightly higher altitude, and a slightly higher solution temperature.
As is well known, the majority of topical medications only affect the ocular surface, which includes the corneal epithelium and conjunctiva. In certain cases, including conditions like mydriasiss, these instillations can affect how ciliary muscles contract. The state and severity of the issue determine how many drops are used and how long the treatment takes.
