Acid Peptic Disorder
Our stomach produces various acids to aid in the digestion of food. The acid released may have an effect on the mucosal lining of the stomach but it has defences. An imbalance in this arrangement causes the mucosal guards to be weakened or too much acid to be released which damages the lining and causes acid-peptic diseases.

Overview
The conditions that fall under the category of acid peptic disorders include gastric ulcers duodenal ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disorders. Duodenal ulcers develop in the duodenum whereas gastric ulcers form in the stomach's lesser curvature. When food and acid regurgitate into the esophagus GERD develops.
Causes
Stress
Overindulging in spicy sour and salty foods
Inappropriate eating behaviors
Long-term fasting
Long-term NSAID use
Eating a lot of unhealthy foods
Insufficient water intake
Infection with Helicobacter pylori bacteria
Overindulging in food
Food consumption before full digestion of the previous meal

Symptoms
The typical signs and symptoms of acid reflux disease patients are as follows:
Severe abdominal pain
Burning in the chest and stomach
Heartburn
Feeling sick

If bleeding is a chronic problem a dark-colored bowel may cause either pain right after eating (gastric ulcer) or pain during hunger (duodenal ulcer). If the condition is not identified and treated the symptoms will eventually get worse.
